More impressions will come later but my first impression really is surprising. (well, it's not like I am far into the game yet).

#Soul of darkness dsiware rpg games upgrade

There's a cool little upgrade system replacing the leveling and I didn't get stylus crap so far. Definetely a Castlevania rip off but I wanted another game like that so they got me. The scenery is nice and diverse and there's always stuff happening when you don't really expect it (like that huge hand at the beginning of the game). So far the gameplay is interesting, ennemies have nice attacks and it's harder than Dawn of Sorrow and most of Portrait of Ruin. The Hellish Tactical Strategy RPG Disgaea: Hour of Darkness has a sequel, and Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories is here, expanding on nearly everything that made. (unless you really don't like Metroidvanias of course). Graphics and animation isn't up to par with DS's Castlevanias but the controls is pretty much there and the gameplay is actually very nice and straightforward. I bought Soul of Darkness so here are my impressions: You might as well lump Dead or Alive 4 as ripping off Virtua Fighter because it still uses many mechanics found in the game and plays similar to it. But even then so the clones you speak of while taking obvious influence didn't copy the game from head to toe (I already explained Mother). Yes Virtua Fighter had many games similar to it, because it created a new genre, as did Dragon Quest. And this is the reason why some people are ":lol " at the OP despite the game looking promising.Īs for your examples, well they're a bit odd. There are two types of peons to control there’s the miners, that do most of the digging, and the warriors, that do most of the fighting. From the video (meaning that this is coming from the first impressions not people have actually played the game, remember I'm explaining the reasons for the reactions this game is getting in this thread) the game mechanics, art style, character, enemy, and environment design, POV size, the name, and map system all seem to be straightly taken from a traditional DS Castlevania game. At the end of longer games, the game is massive in size this was the final moments of a 30 minute game To start with, Dwarves is a top-down action game where the goal is to dig tunnels. This goes far beyond inspiration and goes into a near stealing. However with this game they've got Castlevania all they way down to the map system. Upon seeing them and playing them you can obviously tell that they are two different games. Because while they have similar game mechanics they have different art styles, they have different character designs, map systems, etc. Yes games like Mother and Dragon Quest will have similarities (obvious since they fall into the same genre) but if I look at videos or start playing the game for a bit I can soon tell which game is Mother and which is Dragon Quest. There's a huge difference between taking influence from a game (the examples you listed) and being a complete carbon copy (Commando: Steel Disaster, this game).
